The data in Studysoccer.com includes league positions of teams since the beginning of the season, over the last 5/10/20 matches, at home, away, etc. You may notice inconsistencies between the league positions as stated by Studysoccer.com and elsewhere. This is because not every league uses the same criteria to sort teams that are equal on points. Some leagues use goal difference, some use head to head records. Studysoccer.com calculates league positions based on points, then goal difference, then goals scored. It is preferable to use the same method across all leagues to calculate goal difference. Analysing a betting strategy based on league positions where not all the league positions in the database are calculated in the same manner might compromise the accuracy of the analysis (though not by much). It is simpler for users if only one methodology is used to calculate league positions for teams which have an equal number of points. The site also does not take into account points deductions imposed upon teams by league bodies, as these do not reflect the actual performance of a team, and are often imposed for non-footballing reasons. |
